Here’s my gift to you this year: a recipe for S’mores Muddy Buddies! We’ve gone through two double batches at my house so far — but to be fair, we shared some. Enjoy!
- 6 cups Rice Chex® or Corn Chex® cereal (or combination)
- 4 cups Golden Grahams cereal
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup peanut butter
- ¼ cup butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup red & green M&M’s
- 1 cup marshmallows
- 2 Hershey’s chocolate bars, chopped into small bits
In a large bowl, mix the Chex & 3 cups of Golden Grahams together. (Reserve 1 cup of Golden Grahams for later.)
In a microwave safe bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on high for 1 minute and then stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla.
Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into a 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag. (I find it easier to do this in two batches so my bag isn’t too full.)
Add powdered sugar. Seal the bag and shake gently until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool.
Once the cereal mixture has set, place it back into the large mixing bowl after you’ve had a chance to wash it out. Add the remaining cup of Golden Grahams, M&M’s, Marshmallows, and Hershey bar bits.
Eat enthusiastically. Share with friends. Or not.
Store in an airtight container.
